Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • 5 tbsp almond flour (for topping)
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Make the crust: Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Mix in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add water until dough forms. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling: Peel and slice apples. In a pan, melt butter and cook apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water until tender (about 10 minutes).
  3. Assemble the pie: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out crust and fit into pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and sprinkle almond flour on top. Cover with another rolled-out crust and seal edges.
  4. Bake the pie: Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape. Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Serve: Let it cool slightly before serving warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
