  • 200 g grated apples
  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 140 g sour cream
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g butter (for frosting)
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • 90 g granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • 1 tbsp water (for caramel)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground all spice

Instructions

  1. Make the caramel sauce by combining 90 g granulated sugar and 1 tbsp water over medium heat until it turns amber.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pan.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
  4. In another bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, grated apples, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. To make the buttercream frosting, beat butter with powdered sugar, caramel sauce, and vanilla until fluffy.
  8. Once cooled completely, frost the cake and enjoy!
