  • 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated)
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp water (for béchamel)
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 Baguette
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • Fresh Parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Caramelize sliced onions in olive oil over medium heat for 30–40 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Deglaze with beef broth if necessary, then set aside.
  3. In a separate skillet, create a béchamel sauce by whisking flour into melted butter, then gradually adding heavy cream.
  4. Stir in two-thirds of the caramelized onions, salt, pepper, parsley, and grated Parmesan to the béchamel.
  5. Cook cavatappi until al dente and mix with the sauce.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
