Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g Cavatappi macaroni
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 3 cups Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp water
  • Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/2 Baguette
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Sauté thinly sliced onions in olive oil over medium heat for 30–40 minutes until caramelized. If they stick, add beef broth.
  2. In the same skillet, whisk flour into melted butter (or olive oil), then gradually add heavy cream until thickened.
  3. Stir in two-thirds of the caramelized onions, season with salt and pepper, and mix in Parmesan cheese.
  4. Cook cavatappi macaroni until just shy of al dente, then combine with the sauce.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
