  • 1 3/4 cups apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Core and chop apples into large chunks. Combine in a pot with apple juice and vinegar; bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to simmer, cover, and cook for about 30 minutes until apples are soft.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt; mix well.
  4. Blend mixture until smooth using an immersion blender or in batches with a standing blender.
  5. Return to pot and cook uncovered over medium heat for 30-45 minutes until thickened.
