  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups finely chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternating with sour cream until just combined.
  6. Fold in chopped apples and nuts (if using).
  7. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
